Carabean Coffee Website
A business website for Carabean, a small local coffee caravan based at Red Rocks, Wellington.
Project Overview
Carabean is a small local coffee business located at Red Rocks, Wellington. I was commissioned to design and develop a website for the business with minimal initial direction, which allowed significant creative freedom throughout the project.
The objective was to create a website that felt clean, cohesive, informative and functional while reflecting the personality of the business and its coastal environment.
Visual Direction
Warm, nostalgic, handmade and coastal.
After researching the location, brand and customer experience, I established these key themes to guide the visual direction. I developed an initial moodboard containing typography, colour, texture, layout inspiration, photography references and product imagery.
Brand Elements
Photoshoot Planning
I planned and directed a full photoshoot for the website, identifying the imagery needed to support both the branding and user experience.
- Exterior caravan shots: front, side and 45° angles
- Red Rocks landscape photography
- Seating area and customer interaction
- Close-up coffee preparation shots
- Pastry and dessert photography
- Interior caravan details
Website Design & Coding
Following the research and photography stages, I collaborated with another designer to co-design the website interface and user experience. I was responsible for coding the website and implementing the interactive elements.
- Page structure
- Navigation
- Buttons and links
- Image gallery integration
- Message box integration
- Responsive functionality
Final Outcome
The final website captured the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the business while providing a clear and engaging digital presence for customers. The project was delivered successfully, and the client was highly satisfied with the result.
